Akira KATAGIRI 君(スポーツ健康科学部1回生)によるスピーチです。

Hello, everyone. My name is Akira Katagiri. First, I want to give thanks to Mr. Kimura and other teachers, and my senior students who started up and kept up this P5. Thank you. Today, I’d like to talk about my memorable summer experience in 2012. But there are hardly any memories in this summer. So, I’d like to talk about my memorable summer experience in 2008. Let’s start.

Chapter 1. What is my memorable summer experience in 2008?
What do you come up with summer? I imagine sea, festivals, and summer homework which I didn’t feel up to finish. I had a really tough time to finish summer homework time and again. But training camp in 2008 made me nervous more than summer homework made me nervous. So, I’d like to talk about the training camp which I have never forgotten.

Chapter 2. Explanation of “Sugadaira”
Do you know “Sugadaira”? It located in Nagano. In summer, not less than 100 rugby teams train in Sugadaira. In winter, Sugadaira is famous for a ski slope. Of course, our rugby club did training camp in there. I have heard that Ritsumeikan university’s rugby club train in Sugadaira every summer, too. Next I’ll introduce our team hard schedule.

Chapter 3. How hard the training camp!
Please look at this screen. This is our team schedule in Sugadaira. We had to get up at 6:00 in the morning, and do 30 minutes running and stretch. We had breakfast from 7:00. At 8:00 we ran to ground, a journey of 2 kilometers. First practice match started about 9:30. We had lunch and rest from 12:30 to 2:00 in the afternoon. Next practice match started from 3:00. All practices were end by 5:30 in the evening. But players who made an error had to come home by way of mountain. So, players had to go up mountain by running! It was because we had to eat dinner from 7:00 in the evening. So, our body cry with fatigue. After dinner we had a bath by 9:00 and hold video meeting at 9:00. This meeting suffered us extremely because we were so sleepy. However, tenth-grade students couldn’t sleep yet. It was because we had to wash senior’s clothes and our clothes. Moreover, we had to dry laundries and fold its. Therefore we slept at 4:00 in the morning and then get up at 6:00. I had never experienced such a hard schedule.

Chapter 4. My severe trial
I took part in 20 practice matches in 5 days. When I took part in the last practice match, my left arm was stamped and broken. That’s when I felt a shooting pain in my arm. Of course, I was provided emergency care. But our coach said “If you felt pain, do you run away? You are unnecessary player!” To be sure, my left arm couldn’t move. But I returned the match and play. Though our trainer was unable to stand by, and I was substituted by force. And then I departed from Sugadaira in order to treat. This is my bitter memory of Sugadaira.

These experiences are so unreasonable. But I can talk about these experiences like funny stories now. It is because I think that there are not these unreasonable things any more, and grasp positively. Without this training camp, I would be a weak person who runs away when I face a difficulty. There are a lot of unreasonable things in our life. However, we must not run away, feel depressed and lose. And feel everything positively. My training camp taught me these things. Now I thank my memorable summer experience in 2008.
